Skiing Alpspitze
Known as the jewel of the Werdenfelser Land Alpspitze is the spot for classic Alpine skiing. Here you can walk, climb or stroll in unspoilt natural Alpine surroundings or just rest in one of the après ski mountain inns. Either way you will be swept off your feet from the breathtaking views of the Bavarian Alps.

The Alpspitze (2050m) lies in the chain of the Bavarian Alps that separates Germany from neighboring Austria. Known for being a classic holiday getaway because of its numerous Bavarian chalets and sweeping Alpine views this is the cream of skiing in Germany. The Alpspitze has something for everyone. Sunny slopes, demanding runs, bunny hills for the beginning skiier, and lessons with an expert for any level.
As far back as 80 years ago skiers romped on the slopes above Garmisch-Partenkirchen.These days, once a year the World Cup circus sets its tent here, and the best downhill and SuperG-skiers tackle the most demanding run in the Olmypiatown, the Kandahar. The record time for the run is under two minutes. But you can take a more leisurely approach if you like.
The best runs recommended by the official Web site for tourism is the World Cup run, the Kandahar, and the Olympia whose decent is another challenge for experts. Great fun for beginners is the slope beneath the Kreuzwankl-Skiexpress, the 6-seater chair lift in the Hausberg area.
After skiing it is highly recommended to make a stop at one of the many Bavarian mountain huts. From Bavarian delicacies and huge cakes to the most beautiful panoramic view of the region. What more could the skier’s heart desire? Not to mention a stine of the best German beer you could ask for.
Along with all the excitement of downhill skiing there is also a plethora of cross-country ski trails that run along the main valleys; including a long section from Garmisch to Mittenwald.
